When you are in pain, the primary goal and focus shouldn’t be on just ‘killing’ it. The main objective should be figure out the ROOT CAUSE(S) of why it is present, and start addressing those. Pain is complex, but it is ALWAYS telling us something.

↪️ Painkillers are handed out like candy these days for a variety of reasons. It seems like it is the first line of defence when any sort of pain arises. And we wonder why we have a painkiller epidemic on our hands.

Simply ‘killing’ pain without addressing its root cause is a recipe for disaster in the medium and long term. The obsession with killing pain and treating it as a nuisance may provide temporary relief, but it isn’t a sustainable or wise solution to whatever the actual problem may be.

🔑 Pain first needs to be acknowledged for what it is. Pain is evolutionarily meaningful, it isn’t some random annoyance that just happens out of the blue.
_
↪️ It then needs to be used as a guide. Pain is a call for change of some sort, so figuring out what must be changed or altered (behaviours, activities, thoughts, patterns, lifestyle, movements etc.) is fundamental.
_
➡️ The underlying cause(s) may be simple or multi factorial, depending on the situation. Either way, it needs to be figured out and addressed to truly deal with pain in a sustainable way.
_
✅ Whether you are seeing a health professional or solving it yourself, make sure that the emphasis isn’t just on killing the pain, but on solving it and getting to its roots.

Yes, painkillers do have their place...but not as the solution to a pain problem, because they aren’t.

HAPPY with this weeks progression! 
Managed to work up to 140kg squat for 3 reps at sub 7 feeling really easy and I am happy with the way my form is and maintains to be as I increase weight.

FINAL workout this week managed to push 7 set of 3 reps on 100kg killer but maintained strength through all the volume. 
Finished the week seeing my good friend OLLY!! Smash his first competition in classic physique bodybuilding category! Very proud of the package you brought man!

This meet was 6mo after hip surgery. I couldn’t lift heavy so I focused on studying technique. I studied other lifters & compiled all my own videos & put them in slow-mo & freeze frame positions. I always loved the technical aspect but it wasn’t until I was forced out of lifting that I became obsessed with it. What resulted was a PR total just 6mo after hip surgery. The mind is a powerful tool- Use every setback as an opportunity to regroup & re-attack! This was at the 2014 Arnold where I lifted as a 94. 🎥: @hookgrip

Today I did a thing...I meal prepped for the week.  This is special bc 1. Normally @ibryant20 does the cooking around here but he decided he needed to go to London and 2. I have been eating a lot of not so good food lately.

I am dedicating the next week to gut health and eating things that nourish my body and not just taste good. As a plant based person, it’s easy to eat meat substitutes bc they taste good, are easy and mostly it’s easy.

The last few months I have noticed some changes in my hormones. Did you know hormonal issues start in the gut? So do many things actually...
..
I also haven’t been taking care of my body by moving it and I’ve noticed a lot of mobility issues showing up.
..
So next week and hopefully longer, I am dedicating to loving my body. Putting food in it that’s not only tasty but good for me. And to moving my body daily! ..
